Wike Gives 3-Months Grace To Peter Obi and 188 Plot Owners In Abuja

  • Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has granted a three-month grace period to 189 titleholders who have received building plan approvals but have not initiated development on their properties.
  • This grace period applies to individuals and corporate entities within the Federal Capital City (FCC) who have obtained building plan approvals but have not commenced actual development.
  • Public institutions holding land titles within the FCC but yet to initiate development have also been given a three-month grace period to avoid potential sanctions.

In a move aimed at encouraging property development, Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has offered a three-month grace period to 189 titleholders.

These individuals and corporate entities have previously obtained building plan approvals but have not yet begun development on their properties within the Federal Capital City (FCC).

Public institutions holding land titles in the FCC have also been included in this initiative to stimulate development and prevent potential penalties.

The Minister’s decision reflects a commitment to promoting property development within the region.

Speaking via a statement, the Director of Information and Communication, FCT, Muhammad Sule said, “Similarly, public institutions that have land titles within the Federal Capital City but are yet to develop same, have also been given a grace period of three months to commence development in order to avoid sanction.

“Thus, the Minister has extended this gesture to 189 property owners due to their desire to develop the property by obtaining Building Plan Approvals which is a prerequisite for development of any property in the Federal Capital Territory.”

The notification in the Newspapers states: “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), has graciously approved a grace period of three months from the date of this publication for the under-listed titleholders who have obtained building plan approvals to commence development of their plots; failure of which their titles shall be revoked for continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right- of-Occupancy.

The owners of these plots were exempted from revocation because they have already demonstrated firm commitment towards developing their property by obtaining necessary documents from the FCT Administration.”…[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
