Tension gripped commuters and residents on Wednesday after a petrol-laden tanker overturned and burst into flames along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, directly opposite the NASFAT prayer ground.
Eyewitnesses said the tanker, which was in motion before losing balance, tipped over and ignited moments later, unleashing a fierce blaze and plumes of black smoke that filled the sky.
Motorists were seen fleeing their vehicles while nearby residents scrambled for safety as the fire spread rapidly across the road surface.
An X user, Eons Intelligence, shared a video of the incident with the caption:
