President Bola Tinubu has indicated willingness to welcome Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), praising the former Rivers Governor’s ongoing support and political influence.
Speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of Arterial Road N16 in Katampe District, Abuja, President Tinubu commended Wike for his contributions to national development and governance, despite still being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We have somebody, Nyesom Wike, he is not a member of my party (APC), not yet. But the day he changes his mind and registers with the progressives, we will welcome him. Because we will enjoy singing ‘as e dey pain dem, e dey sweet us’,” he added, prompting laughter from attendees, including Wike himself.
Although Wike remains a PDP member, his alignment with the Tinubu-led administration has been evident since the aftermath of the 2023 elections.
After falling out with PDP leadership over the party’s presidential ticket, Wike withheld support from the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and instead backed Tinubu.
Since his appointment as FCT Minister in August 2023, Wike has pledged unwavering support for Tinubu and publicly declared his intention to lead the president’s re-election campaign in Rivers State come 2027. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
