Supreme Court Dismisses Tonye Cole’s Appeal Against Fubara On The Grounds Of Incompetence

The Supreme Court ruled that Tonye Cole and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had no merit in their appeal against Siminalayi Fubara’s election as the governor of Rivers State.

The appellant failed to provide evidence supporting the claims of noncompliance with the Electoral Act, among other things, the court ruled.

The appeal was dismissed by the court on the grounds that it was incompetent.

Cole, who contested against Governor Fubara in the March 18, 2023 election, claim that Fubara had not resigned from his position as Rivers State’s accountant general before to the governorship election.

Cole mentioned, among other things, purported anomalies, disregard for the Electoral Act, and corrupt activities.

He asked the Court of Appeal and Tribunal, which had affirmed Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the victor of the Rivers Governorship Election, to overturn the governor’s victory. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
