Raphael Onyedika, a Nigerian football player, became a champion for the first time in Belgium on Sunday night, May 26, as Cercle Brugge held Club Brugge to a 0-0 draw in a hotly contested rivalry.
Club Brugge, with 50 points from the draw, defeated Genk 2-0 to take first place in the Championship Playoffs, one point ahead of Union St. Gilloise.
In the last league game of the season on Sunday night, Club Brugge was held to a scoreless draw by Cercle Brugge, with Super Eagles star Onyedika playing the whole game.
With Club Brugge, the 23-year-old made 30 league appearances throughout the campaign and scored three goals.
The defensive midfielder had won the Danish League championship when playing for FC Midtjylland, therefore this is not his first championship triumph.
Brugge has already secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League group stages for the upcoming season.
