The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, has proclaimed Wednesday to be Eid-el-Fitr.
Sultan, who is the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) president general, said in a statement on Monday that Shawwal 1445AH began on Wednesday.
He claimed that the findings from nationwide national moon sighting committees confirmed that no new moon was sighted.
Wazirin Sokoto, Sambo Junaidu, and the head of the advisory committee on religious issues all signed the declaration.
“His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings,” the statement reads.
“The Sultan, while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress, and development of the country, also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-El-Fitri.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]
