Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited was ordered by the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja on Monday to stop the implementation of its proposed price hike for their products and services that were supposed to take effect on May 1.
The three-member panel, led by Saratu Shafii, granted the temporary injunction following an ex-parte application filled by counsel for the applicant Ejiro Awaritoma.
In a decision, the tribunal stopped Multi-Choice from implementing the scheduled price rise that was set to go into effect on May 1st, pending the hearing and resolution of the move on notice that was submitted to the tribunal.
“The 1st defendant is hereby restrained from taking any step(s) that may negatively affect the rights of the claimant and other consumers in respect of the suit pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice,” Shafii declared.
She therefore gave notice that all parties to the litigation must come before the tribunal on May 7 at 10 a.m. in order to hear and decide the motion on notice. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
