‘Stop Dragging Others Into Your Méss’ — Abia Leadership Group Slams Former Gov Ikpeazu

A political advocacy group known as the Abia State Frontier Leadership Group (AFLG) has issued a stern warning to former Abia State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, over what it described as his disturbing habit of deflecting blame and dragging past governors into his unresolved controversies.

In a strongly worded statement signed by its convener, Njoku Samuel Okoronkwo, and made available to the media on Monday, the group expressed dismay at what it termed the former governor’s consistent attempt to “pass the buck” whenever questions are raised about his eight-year administration.

The group accused Ikpeazu and his aides of deliberately attempting to confuse the public by constantly comparing his administration with those of former governors Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji, even when such comparisons are irrelevant.

“The current Abia State administration and concerned citizens have only asked one simple question — what did Governor Ikpeazu do with the opportunity he had to govern Abia for eight uninterrupted years?” the statement read. “Instead of answering the question, he keeps reaching backward to drag in previous administrations, a tactic that does not address the pressing questions on the minds of Abians.”

AFLG cited one of the most pressing concerns — the N10 billion budgeted for the construction of an Abia State Airport during Ikpeazu’s tenure. The group stated that instead of providing clarity or transparency regarding the funds, Ikpeazu’s camp has resorted to drawing comparisons with other administrations that did not budget such funds in the first place.

“This question has nothing to do with Orji Uzor Kalu or T.A. Orji,” the group emphasized. “It is about Ikpeazu and the choices he made while in office. Abians deserve answers, not deflections.”

The AFLG further criticized Ikpeazu’s media team and close associates for what it described as a coordinated attempt to rewrite history and evade accountability. According to the group, any attempt to absolve Ikpeazu of responsibility or divert attention from his administration’s alleged shortcomings will be firmly resisted.

“It is time for Dr. Ikpeazu to carry his own cross,” the statement continued. “He should either come clean and answer the questions being asked, or humbly accept his administration’s failures, apologize to the people of Abia, and move on with his life.”

The group reiterated its position that blaming others or attempting to mask administrative failures under the shadow of past regimes is a dangerous political trend that must be discouraged in the interest of truth and progress.

“Abians are no longer buying the distraction tactics. The facts are clear, the records are public, and the people deserve accountability. Leadership is not about excuses — it is about responsibility,” the group concluded.

As the current administration continues to probe into financial irregularities and uncompleted projects from the past, AFLG has urged the public to remain vigilant and demand answers. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
