King Charles III leads tribute as UK, allied forces mark 80 years since WWII end

King Charles III has led a stirring tribute as around 1,000 members of the UK armed forces, joined by NATO troops from the United States, France, Germany, and a contingent of Ukrainian soldiers proudly waving their national flag, completed a ceremonial march to Buckingham Palace.

Despite the damp weather, tens of thousands of spectators lined the Mall, decorated with Union Jacks, to witness the commemorative parade, which opened with a dramatic reading of Winston Churchill’s 1945 victory speech.

Actor Timothy Spall delivered the historic words from Parliament Square, standing before Churchill’s statue: “Do not yield to violence and tyranny, march straight forward and die if need be, unconquered.”

The procession concluded with a spectacular aerial display by the Red Arrows, accompanied by 23 modern and vintage military aircraft, all watched by the 76-year-old monarch from the palace balcony.

King Charles was joined by Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—offering a united front in remembrance of those who served during World War II.

As Europe prepares to mark Victory in Europe (VE) Day on May 8, King Charles recently told the Italian parliament that ongoing conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, serve as a stark reminder that “peace is never to be taken for granted.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
