Spaniard Who Survived Covid 19 Names World’s Oldest Living Person

Maria Branyas, a US-born Spaniard, has been named the world oldest living person at age 115.

Following the death of Lucile Randon, a French nun, who died at age 118, on Tuesday, FreshReporters report, Branyas automatically cling to first position, according to the Gerontology Research Group, a major source for Guinness World Records’ oldest person status for over 20 years.

The new record holder, Branyans witnessed both first and second world wars and also survived Covid 19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, in May 2020, Branyas became the oldest known person in earth to survive Covid-19 at the age of 113 years.

Report gathered reveal Spaniard has lived in sheltered housing in the Catalan town of Olot since she was 92 years old.

She also played the piano, read newspapers and exercised her body every morning until she turned 105 years.

The US-born became the oldest person in Spain in December 2019.
