Six ‘Yahoo Boys’ Arrested For Allegedly Kidnapping BASUG Student Over $3800 Proceeds Of Fraud

In a joint operation, the Bauchi State Police Command and the Nigerian Army have apprehended six suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as “Yahoo Boys,” for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a 400-level student from Bauchi State University. The victim has been identified as Ojo Tobi David, a 23-year-old student.

According to SP Ahmed M Wakil, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, the suspects kidnapped Ojo Tobi David from the Federal Low Cost area of Azare town, Bauchi State.

Following the abduction, the perpetrators forcefully took possession of a Toyota Camry 2010 with registration number KYW-925-SB, belonging to Amaechi Ikechukwu from the same locality. They then swiftly fled towards Misau Road in Azare, with their captive inside the vehicle.

Upon receiving a distress call, the soldiers stationed at the Azare/Misau military checkpoint promptly responded to the situation. They intercepted the stolen vehicle along with the suspects, successfully rescuing the victim unharmed.

The collaborative efforts of the Bauchi State Police Command and the Nigerian Army have resulted in a major breakthrough, thwarting a potential tragedy and ensuring the safe recovery of the kidnapped student. The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law for their alleged involvement in the crime.
