Shooting Rampage Leaves Seven Dead At Glebelands Hostel In South Africa

In a horrifying incident at the Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, the local police have initiated a criminal investigation into a violent shooting spree that resulted in the loss of seven lives. Two individuals also sustained severe injuries during the attack, which took place during the early hours of Saturday morning, June 3.

According to Brigadier Jay Naicker, the spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal, the victims, nine men aged between 20 and 40 years, were gathered in a room at Block 57 of the Glebelands Hostel, where they were socializing and consuming alcohol. Suddenly, unidentified gunmen stormed into the room and opened fire on the group. The assailants swiftly fled the scene after the assault.

Tragically, seven of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the remaining two were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The police have filed a case involving seven counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in response to this heinous act. The investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.
