Seplat Energy Plc has announced a key change to its board of directors. Tony O. Elumelu, a leading billionaire investor and philanthropist, has been appointed as a non-executive director, effective January 22, 2026. He replaces Olivier Cleret de Langavant, who resigned from the board on the same date.
The company expressed gratitude to Langavant, who served since January 2020, for his strategic and technical guidance which contributed significantly to Seplat’s development.
Elumelu, the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation and a major figure in African finance and entrepreneurship, brings decades of cross-sector experience to the role. Seplat stated that his appointment is expected to strengthen the company’s strategic direction and bolster its commitment to sustainable, long-term growth and value creation for shareholders.
