Senate Committee Set to Investigate Airline–Passenger Clàshes

The Senate Committee on Aviation has announced plans to investigate recent incidents between airline operators and passengers across Nigeria, following public outrage over the cases.

One of the incidents occurred last week at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM 1, allegedly obstructed an aircraft from taking off.

Another case involved Comfort Emmanson, a passenger on an Ibom Air Uyo–Lagos flight, who was removed from the plane after refusing to switch off her phone and slapping a female air hostess.

Committee Chairman, Buhari Abdulfatai, expressed deep concern over the events, describing them as “too dangerous for silence.” He said the Senate would engage aviation regulators, operators, security agencies, and public interest groups to review procedures and enforce necessary corrective measures to maintain safety, professionalism, and public trust.
