Selfish Interests Among Nigerians Stalling Power Sector Progress – Power Minister

Some Nigerians, according to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of power, do not want the electricity sector to function because it interferes with their personal interests.

Speaking during the 63 MVA, 132/33kV mobile station’s commissioning in Ajah, Lagos State, Adelabu said that although he is aware that there would be opposition and diversions, Nigerians will begin to notice the profound effects once certain TCN projects are finished.

He said;

“We have had over 40 ministers in the past and we are still here, we know there will be resistance and distractions but Nigerians will start seeing our overwhelming impact the moment we complete the TCN projects.

“Nigerians should not be cheated and that is why I don’t call this new tariff cost-reflective but service reflective.”

Additionally, the Minister stated that all discos must supply 20 to 24 hours of power before charging N225 per kilowatt-hour, and that “they will be fined heavily” if they fail to comply. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
