Security Operatives Neutralize IPOB/ESN Fighters After Intense Confrontation In Asaba (Photos)

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade, along with personnel from the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), achieved a significant victory in the fight against the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).

In a fierce encounter at Fuji junction in Asaba, Delta State, two IPOB/ESN fighters were neutralized, and five others were apprehended.

The operation was launched in response to distress calls reporting an attack by the terrorists on the community.

Upon receiving the information, the combined troops swiftly responded and engaged the militants in combat. Overwhelmed by the superior firepower and tactical proficiency of the security forces, two terrorists were killed during the intense firefight, while the remaining assailants fled to their hideout near the Okpanam river.

Demonstrating unwavering determination, the gallant troops pursued the fleeing criminals and successfully tracked them down to a house located in the vicinity of Okpanam river.

In a well-coordinated operation, the security forces apprehended the suspects without any further resistance. As a result of the operation, a significant cache of weapons and equipment was seized, including an AK 47 Rifle, a Pump Action Semi-Automatic Rifle, 15 Live Cartridges, an AK 47 Rifle Magazine, and a Baofeng Radio Receiver.

Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army spokesperson, conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, to the combined troops for their exceptional performance.

Major General Lagbaja emphasized the importance of maintaining the synergy among the security agencies to restore peace and tranquility in the region.
