Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, has issued a strong warning to business owners, retailers in the state rejecting old naira notes.
In line with the Supreme Court Ruling, the ogun state governor declared anyone going against the court’s ruling will face legal action. He said this in a statement in a video shared via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday.
He said, “I am hereby sounding a note of warning to every merchant, trader, banker, and petrol Station that is refusing old naira notes. If you’re reported to me, I will deal with you to the fullest extent of the law.”
Meanwhile, Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State vowed to withdraw the certificate of occupancy, C of O of any corporation or store that refuses to accept old naira notes, as reported by FreshReporters on the 18th of February, 2023.

The governor made this clear via his verified Twitter account on Friday stating that the Supreme Court has directed that the old notes remain legal tender.
He said, “The Ogun State Government will be revoking the certificate of occupancy, CofO of any corporation or store that rejects old Naira notes from members of the public in the State in exchange for goods and services. Commercial outlets are hereby reminded that there is an existing court order by the Supreme Court, the apex court in Nigeria, directing that old notes remain legal tender”
