Primate Ayodele Challenges Pastors: “Go to Wïtches’ Camp for Revival, Not America”

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has taken a swipe at Nigerian pastors who frequently travel abroad for revival programmes, suggesting such trips are driven more by personal comfort than spiritual purpose.

Speaking during a special empowerment outreach over the weekend, the cleric dismissed the idea of holding revivals in countries like the United States, describing them as mere “pleasure” rather than genuine outreach.

“Going to America to do revival is a lie,” he said. “Why can’t you go to the camp of witches and wizards to convert them? Going to America is a pleasure.”

Ayodele argued that true evangelism should target spiritually challenging environments, not well-organised foreign gatherings. He urged pastors to demonstrate courage by taking the gospel to places considered spiritually dark instead of organising elaborate events abroad.

On philanthropy, Ayodele explained that giving is central to his divine assignment. “What informed my philanthropy is because it’s my mission. If I don’t do it, I won’t feel good. If I put clothes in the wardrobe, someone else will wear them when I die. So I don’t keep money; I don’t have to keep money when people are suffering,” he said.

“As a pastor, you follow what you preach. It is what I preach that I am demonstrating. It’s just common sense.”
