Presidential Election Tribunal Admits Chicago University, NYSC Certificates Against Tinubu

In a significant development, the Presidential Election Petitions Court has accepted certified copies of President Bola Tinubu’s academic and work records, which were tendered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The submitted documents consist of a B.Sc certificate from the Chicago State University, an NYSC Discharge Certificate, and a certificate of service from Mobil Nigeria Oil Plc. These records were brought forward by the PDP through their subpoenaed witness, Mike Enahoro Ebah Esq. However, Ebah noted that the documents were “purportedly” obtained by Tinubu but bore the name ‘Bola Adekunle Tinubu’.

Under the examination of PDP counsel Chris Uche (SAN), the witness also presented forms EC13 and EC9 nomination forms, along with the letters addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as supporting evidence.

However, objections to the admissibility of the documents were raised by the defense lawyers representing INEC, Tinubu (represented by Emmanuel Ukala, SAN), and the APC (represented by Lateef Fagbemi, SAN).

The stage is now set for the defense lawyers to cross-examine the witness, marking the next phase of the court proceedings. This development holds significant implications for the ongoing presidential election petition case.
