In a surprising development today, President Bola Tinubu has suspended the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu Bawa, indefinitely. This decision comes in the wake of serious allegations of abuse of office that have been levied against him.
The suspension was announced through an official statement released by the presidency. The statement outlined that the decision to suspend Bawa was made following weighty allegations of misconduct and abuse of power, which required a thorough investigation to ascertain their veracity.
As per the directive, Bawa has been instructed to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his office to the Director of Operations in the Commission.
The Director of Operations will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission until the investigation is concluded.
