CHRISTMAS! President Tinubu Cuts Travel Costs in Half for Holiday Season

President Bola Tinubu has announced a wonderful move to help Nigerians enjoy the holidays: a 50% reduction in the cost of public transportation across the country. This measure applies to both buses and minibusses.

But that’s not all! All train rides within Nigeria will be completely free between December 21st and January 4th.

Freshrepporters News reports that the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, made the announcement on behalf of the president while addressing journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He was joined by other key officials, including the Information Minister, the Transportation Minister, and the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

This news brings cheer to many inter-state travelers who were facing high transportation costs due to the recent economic challenges.

The government’s special holiday discounted fares aim to make travel more affordable for lower-income individuals and families.

This presidential intervention was coordinated by an inter-ministerial committee. While other government policies, like the fuel subsidy removal, have led to price increases in various sectors, this action specifically targets transportation costs during the busy holiday season.

The special discounted fares will be in effect from December 21st to January 4th.
