Liverpool Football Club secured the final spot in the 2023-2024 Carabao Cup semi-finals earlier today, December 20, 2023.
Manager Jurgen Klopp and his team advanced to the next round of the competition after crushing West Ham United 5-1 at Anfield.
The Merseyside club dominated the match from the start, maintaining their momentum throughout. West Ham managed only a few flashes of brilliance in this lopsided encounter.
However, Liverpool needed only 28 minutes to open the scoring, with a strike from Dominik Szoboszlai. The first half ended with no further goals.
But Klopp’s men were unstoppable in the second half, pouring on the goals. 16 minutes after the restart, Curtis Jones doubled Liverpool’s lead.
In the 71st minute, Cody Gakpo scored the third, before West Ham grabbed a consolation goal through Jarrod Bowen in the 77th minute.
Mohamed Salah restored Liverpool’s three-goal advantage in the 82nd, and Jones completed his brace to seal the 5-1 victory.
This emphatic win makes Liverpool the fourth team to qualify for the Carabao Cup Semi-final round, where they will face off against Chelsea, Fulham, and Middlesbrough for the title.
