The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed it is investigating the death of a 27-year-old student at the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus.
According to a police statement, on Sunday, December 7, the institution’s Chief Security Officer reported that the student, identified as Ojajuni Ayo from Ondo State, returned to campus on December 6 around 11:30 a.m. visibly unsteady, scaled the hostel fence, and was later found vomiting and unconscious by a security guard.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted but later pronounced dead while receiving treatment. His body has been deposited in the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
Unofficial reports suggest the student took his own life after allegedly being barred from sitting for the Bar Final examinations that commenced the same day. It was claimed that Ojajuni, a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, had received multiple queries from the school authorities and learned he would not be allowed to write the exams, which reportedly led to extreme distress.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
