The Abia State Police Command has arrested a woman accused of killing her husband, an Immigration officer, following a domestic dispute reportedly triggered by infidelity suspicions.
According to reports, the victim, Chidiebere James, who served at the Abia State Command, was fatally stabbed by his wife in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, at Umuihi, Umuogba Ekeoba in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
The disagreement is said to have begun on Sunday, sparked by an argument over their sick child. The wife allegedly accused her husband of neglecting to provide funds for the child’s treatment and confronted him after purportedly finding incriminating messages on his phone.
State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, stating, “The suspect was promptly arrested and is being interrogated at the State CID for a case of murder.”
The tragic incident has plunged the Umuihi Umuogba community into mourning, with residents voicing concern over the rising tide of domestic violence and aggressive behaviour among married women across the country.
