Operatives of Sokoto State Police Command acting on reliable information detained and arrested five people on February 13 at around 2030 hours along the Bodinga-Tambunwal Highway.
The people were thought to be part of a kidnapping syndicate, a police statement confirmed.
Ninety rounds of live ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, and three AK-47 rifles were discovered in the custody of the suspects, who were named as Mohammed Anas, Aliyu Mohammed, Abdullahi Ali, Aliyu Umar, and Aliyu Abdullahi.
Admitting their crimes, they disclosed that they strategize for a kidnapping attempt in Tambuwal.
Similarly, on February 14, at approximately 5:50 p.m., members of the State Tactical Team apprehended suspected bandits in the vicinity of Gigane Village, Sokoto State, with promptitude.
Several bandits were neutralized in the ensuing gunfight, and a GPMG weapon containing six rounds of live ammunition was found at the scene.
The hunt for other gang members who are on the run and the elimination of criminal groups within the state remain top priorities.
