See Peterside’s Reaction As Dattijo Accuses CJN Ariwoola Of Power Abuse

Atedo Peterside, the President and Founder of the Anap Foundation, has praised retired Justice Dattijo Muhammad for his courage in shedding light on the issues plaguing the judiciary.

Freshreporters reports that the retired Supreme Court Justice boldly accused Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, of overstepping his authority in the exercise of his office.

Justice Muhammad, who retired on Friday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70, used his valedictory session, organized by the apex court, to highlight the longstanding challenges within the judiciary that continue to affect the country’s justice delivery system.

In his remarks concerning the CJN, Muhammad stressed that the current structure of the judiciary grants excessive power to the CJN, allowing him to make decisions without the input of other justices.

Reacting to these developments in a Sunday post on his social media handle, Atedo Peterside called for urgent judicial reforms, emphasizing the importance of fairness and justice within the Supreme Court.

He also advocated for the immediate representation of the South East and North Central zones in the Supreme Court.

Peterside conveyed his message concisely, saying, “Justice Dattijo Muhammad should be commended for speaking out against the issues within the Judiciary that he is leaving. It is time to demand reforms that prioritize equity and justice in the Supreme Court; the South East and North Central Zones should have representation without delay.
