Ogun Govt Dismisses Rumours on Awujale Selection, Suspends Appointment Process

The Ogun State Government has disassociated itself from circulating rumours that the Ifa oracle has chosen Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye as the next Awujale of Ijebuland, and that the state has endorsed the outcome.

In a statement, the government categorically denied any involvement in or approval of the purported selection, describing the reports as false and misleading. It stressed that the process for appointing and installing the Awujale of Ijebuland is strictly guided by established laws, procedures, and recognised traditional customs.

The government clarified that no candidate has been adopted or approved through any oracle or informal arrangement, urging the public to disregard such claims.

Meanwhile, the state announced the temporary suspension of the process to fill the vacant stool of the Awujale, citing several complaints and petitions received regarding the selection procedure.

Authorities explained that the suspension will allow for a thorough review to ensure the process remains transparent, lawful, and acceptable to all stakeholders.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and respect for traditional institutions, the government advised residents to rely only on official communications and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause tension or misunderstanding.
