Obi Abandoned Me After I Was Shot During Election, I Regret Supporting Him – 74-yr-old Woman Says

Retired Colonel Chinyere Obi, a 74-year-old and a card-carrying member of the Labour Party, has expressed her disappointment with both the party and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, for allegedly neglecting her after she was shot by political thugs in Imo State during her campaign for the party’s presidential candidate. Chinyere voiced her grievances while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday.

According to Legit reports, Chinyere disclosed that neither the Labour Party nor Peter Obi reached out to her following the incident where she was shot in the leg. She stated that she did not expect the party or Peter Obi to cover her medical expenses but had hoped for a show of solidarity and support.

Despite having her pension and entitlements as a retired colonel, Chinyere expressed her frustration at the lack of any visit or apology from the party or its representatives during her stay at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC).

Chinyere, who campaigned passionately for Peter Obi and the Labour Party, lamented the lack of support and regretted her decision to join the party.

She emphasized that her motive was to advocate for positive change in Nigeria and support the youths. She had spent N5 million on activities such as purchasing rice and visiting people, particularly women across the country.

Recounting the incident, Chinyere explained that trouble began when she attempted to protect a Labour Party polling unit agent in her hometown in the Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State.

Political thugs invaded the polling unit and threatened the agent, prompting her intervention. It was during this altercation that she was shot in the leg.

Expressing her opinion on national security, Chinyere urged President Bola Tinubu to intensify efforts to address the insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the southeast region. She conveyed her confidence in President Tinubu’s capabilities and believed that he would be able to alleviate the hardships faced by the country.
