The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has set an ambitious revenue target of ₦40.7 trillion for 2026, surpassing the Federal Government’s ₦34.3 trillion budget projection for the year.
Amina Ado Kurawa, the agency’s Executive Director for Government and Large Taxpayers, disclosed the figure during the 2026 NRS Leadership Retreat in Abuja.
According to the projection, non-oil revenue is expected to be the primary driver of growth, rising to an estimated ₦24.836 trillion in 2026 from ₦21.5 trillion in 2025. Oil revenue, on the other hand, is projected to experience modest growth of 1.4 per cent.
To achieve this target, the Service said it plans to intensify enforcement, improve tax compliance, automate key processes, and strengthen collaboration with relevant government agencies.
In 2025, total revenue collected stood at ₦28.3 trillion, exceeding the annual target of ₦25.2 trillion. Of that sum, oil tax revenue contributed ₦6.8 trillion, while non-oil taxes accounted for ₦21.4 trillion.
