Nigerian actress Angela Okorie has been apprehended by police for the second time in a week, taken into custody just hours after she was released from a correctional facility in Suleja.
Her re-arrest is linked to a new petition filed by a businesswoman who alleges the actress owes her N5 million and has refused to settle the debt. Sources indicate that another actress, who is aware of the financial dispute, encouraged the creditor to formally report the matter, leading to the police action. There are indications she may be detained overnight.
This latest incident compounds the actress’s legal troubles. Recall that on January 26, Okorie was arrested in Lagos, flown to Abuja, and arraigned before the Federal High Court on charges of cyberstalking and cyberbullying stemming from a petition by her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie. The court had ordered her remand in Suleja prison pending a bail hearing.
On January 30, Justice Emeka Nwite granted her bail set at N5 million with one surety, who must be a Level 13 civil servant, provide verified employment documents, and have their residence confirmed by the court. The judge stipulated that Okorie would remain in custody until all bail conditions were met.
After fulfilling these requirements and securing her release from the correctional centre on Tuesday, she was immediately met and re-arrested by officers from the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
