Goa Police’s Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) carried out a successful raid on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in Siolim, resulting in the arrest of Augustine Chukwudi Anafe, a Nigerian national, for the illegal possession of 40 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 4 lakh. This was not the first time Anafe had come under the ANC’s radar, as he had been previously arrested in 2018 for possessing LSD liquid, cocaine, and ganja worth Rs 2 lakh.
Following his earlier arrest, Anafe was released on bail but had failed to attend court proceedings, leading to a proclamation being issued against him. Acting on intelligence gathered from informers and employing technical surveillance, the ANC team laid a trap and successfully apprehended the accused along with the contraband.
The raid was executed by a dedicated ANC team led by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar and comprised of HC Kamlesh Dessai, HC Pramod Kalangutkar, PCs Prashant Sutar, Mandar Naik, and Sairaj Naik. The operation was under the supervision of PI ANC Sajith Pillai, while DYSP ANC Shri Nerlon Albuquerque and SP ANC Shri Shivendu Bhushan IPS closely monitored the proceedings.
The case is now in the hands of PSI Priyanka Garodi, who will lead the further investigation into the matter. The ANC’s swift action against drug offenders reflects its commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
