The Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon is about to be broken, according to plans disclosed by Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya.
“I’m doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education,” stated Onakoya, who announced the idea on his X account on Friday.
He continued by saying that the effort will take place on April 17 at Times Square in New York City, and that his goal would be to play chess for 58 hours straight without losing.
He wrote, “On the 17th of April 2024, I will attempt to break the Guiness World record for the longest Chess marathon in the heart of Times Square New York City for 58 hours without losing a game. Doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.”
According to Onakoya, the effort will begin at 10:00 in the morning and will be streamed live on YouTube for everyone to see. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
