NigeriaDecides: INEC officials’ delayed arrival, frustrates Abuja voters laments, faults electoral body

Amidst the voting exercises across Nigeria, voters in the Kayadra area in Kuje Area Council, Abuja Federal Capital Territory have cried out the absence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC officials as well as election materials.

The prospective voters also lamented that the voters register had not been pasted for accessibility.

Peter Anyan who is a community leader, revealed while the delay lasted, no reason had been given for their absence.

According to him, “Nothing is happening here. No voter register had been displayed. I have been voting here in the last 10 years. It has never been this bad. We organised ourselves and gave out numbers.

“My number is 131. They might decide to change it. We are confused and frustrated. The officials should have been here even if the materials are not here. Nobody has addressed us on what is happening.

“The turnout is massive they should not discourage our people from voting. They should not discourage us. We have three polling units here and it is the largest in the area council.

Another voter who gave his name as John faulted the electoral body saying,” Despite all the assurances by INEC this is a shame. We deserve an explanation. If this continues till 11, we will match to the INEC office in the area in protest.”
