Police in Lagos State have discovered a newborn baby abandoned inside a sewage tank. The distressing discovery was made in the Gowon Estate area of the state.
According to a statement released today, July 12 by the state police command, the baby was found safe and sound.
The Lagos State Police Command took to its official Twitter handle to share the alarming news, along with photos of the rescued baby.
The command expressed its deep concern and stated that the female infant, estimated to be only a day old, was found inside the sewage tank at approximately 8:30 am today.
Upon receiving the alert, officers from the Gowon Estate Division swiftly responded to the scene. Acting promptly, they managed to rescue the helpless infant from the grim environment. The police officers then arranged for immediate medical attention for the baby at a nearby health center.
Fortunately, the medical assessment revealed that the newborn was in stable condition and responding well to the care provided.
