In a significant development in the fight against terrorism, another Boko Haram insurgent has surrendered to the troops of Operation Hadin Kai.
The terrorist managed to escape the massive onslaught of the Nigerian Air Force and ground troops of the 202 Battalion.
This surrender comes on the heels of a devastating blow to the Lake Chad basin (LCB) jihadist factions, including Boko Haram (JAS) and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The Nigerian Military’s Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out an intelligence-led aerial mission targeting identified terrorist hideouts.
The operation took place on July 9 and 10, 2023, in Chikun, Gudu, Jibularam, Kwalaram, and Arinna Ciki in Marte Local Government Area. Early assessments from the scene confirm that the mission was successful, resulting in the elimination of numerous fighters, including unidentified commanders.
In a continued effort to eradicate terrorism, intensive air raids were conducted in Talala, located in the Sambisa forest. This action followed intelligence reports of terrorists moving on seven motorcycles. The strikes proved successful, with at least six bodies of eliminated terrorists spotted during the subsequent clearance operations.
Troops deployed in the area have corroborated the claim, stating that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties as a result of the airstrikes. The Nigerian Military’s Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to maintaining the pressure on Boko Haram and other jihadist factions, aiming to secure the safety and peace of the affected regions.
