NEMA visits victims of Ebonyi aûto crásh

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Enugu Operations Office, in collaboration with the Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), have visited victims of the recent auto crash in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The visit, which took place at the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), was aimed at assessing the condition of the injured passengers and offering support to victims and their families.

According to a statement on NEMA’s X handle on Wednesday, 16th of April 2025, the death toll have increased to three, while several injured victims have been treated and discharged.

The statement reads:

“The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Enugu Operations office in collaboration with Ebonyi SEMA have visited the David Umahi Federal University of Health Services (DUFUHS) to assess the condition of passengers who were injured in auto crash at Uburu, Ohaozara LGA Ebonyi State.

“On arrival at the David Umahi Federal University of Health Services (DUFUHS), the joint team was received by the CMD Prof Mrs Uzoma Agwu who expressed delight for the cares and concern of both the State and Federal Government to disaster victims.Thereafter, the joint team were led to the wards to see the injured passengers.

“The Head of NEMA’s Enugu Operations office, Mrs. Ngozi Echeazu who was represented by Mrs Shantel Chukwu commended the good coordination of the community members, doctors and nurses in managing the incident.

“During the visit, Mrs Shantel conveyed the sympathies of NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, and further assured the injured persons of the Agency’s commitment to supporting disaster affected population.
