The motor tanker Sweet Miri was captured on Saturday, March 2, by the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft. It was allegedly involved in the theft of about two million liters of crude oil.
The arrest was made approximately 174 nautical miles off the coast of Nigeria, in the direction of the Benin Republic.
The Navy made this announcement via its X handle on Saturday, March 2, and added that the ship had been placed on its watch list as a vessel of interest.
Sharing photos, the caption reads: “OPERATION DELTA SANITY: Nigeria Navy Ship BEECROFT detected and arrested Motor Tanker SWEET MIRI suspected to have been involved in crude oil theft of about 2 million litres of suspected product, at about 174 nautical miles off the coast of Nigeria towards Benin Republic On Saturday 2 March 2024.
