National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has stated that the Nigerian government views any violence framed along religious lines as a direct attack on the country itself. He emphasized that protecting all citizens, regardless of faith, is a non-negotiable priority.
Ribadu made these remarks in Abuja following a session of the U.S.-Nigeria joint working group, a body established after the U.S. designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern.” He noted the group has already yielded “tangible operational gains” in the fight against terrorism and criminal networks.
The security chief highlighted that cooperation between Nigeria and the United States has progressed from dialogue to concrete action. He commended the U.S. for delivering critical military assets, including drones and helicopters, over the past five years. Ribadu led the Nigerian delegation, while U.S. Under-Secretary of State Allison Hooker headed the American team during the discussions.
