Enforcement officers from NAFDAC have shut down the activities of Mr. Chinedu Okafor, an illicit drink producer operating in his home at No. 24, MTN Road, Badagry, with assistance from intelligence gathered by the Nigerian Army’s 15 Field Engineering Regiment in Badagry.
Okafor was arrested and turned over to NAFDAC agents at the Ports Inspection Directorate, Seme Border, after the Nigerian Army became aware of his questionable actions, according to a statement from the agency.
Officers shut down the unlawful factory by evacuating all supplies and equipment used in the making of illicit beverages after conducting an examination.
Investigations exposed Okafor’s long-standing participation in this illegal business, which may have jeopardized the Badagry area’s legally controlled alcohol supply.
The agency stated that Okafor will be prosecuted and that any items that violated the law, valued at more than fifty million naira (₦50,000,000), will be destroyed. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
