Coco Lee, one of the Hong Kong singer-songwriter has passed away. She passed on, on Wednesday, after a failed suicide attempt over the weekend.
Announcing her death, her sister via a Facebook post by Lee’s sisters confirmed it, read thus,
“With great sadness, we are here to break the most devastating news: Coco had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months.
“Although Coco sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her.”
Lee was the first Chinese singer signed by Sony Music globally.
She also was the voice behind the heroine Fa Mulan in the Mandarin version of Disney’s Mulan where she also sang the theme song.
