Vice Admiral Ibas has arrived Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital to resume duty as the state’s Sole Administrator.
Ibas was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, Wednesday, 19th of March 2025 in Abuja.
The brief ceremony was attended by several key officials, including the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and the Principal Secretary to the President, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
Ibas’ swearing-in came after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.
In a national broadcast, Tinubu cited prolonged political instability, constitutional breaches, and security threats as the reasons for this extraordinary measure.
