Minster of Interior, Tunji-Ojo urges students to acquire practical skills over reliance on academic certificates

The Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has urged tertiary institutions students to prioritise acquiring practical skills over complete reliance on academic certificates.

He reiterated that the country should focus more on innovations and technical skills rather than certificate carrying.

Tunji-Ojo emphasised the importance of technological and innovative ideas while urging students to come up with innovative ideas and projects, so as to stir up competitions and innovative creations.

The minister disclosed this when the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic team led by Acting Rector Olorunwa Adegun visited him in Abuja.

He said:

“In our country of certificate-carrying people, we are not a country of skills. For you to think out of the box with the support of TETFUND, to come up with an initiative like this, I think we all need to support you.

“I want to see you guys come up with ideas, I mean come up with innovative ideas, let people come up with ideas, let’s have competitions, let’s look at products and projects that people have. You’ll be shocked at the level of ideas that your students have.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
