Military Operation in Borno Kïlls Five Terròrists, Rescues Three Hostages

Troops from Operation Hadin Kai, Nigeria’s counter-terrorism task force in the Northeast, have killed five terrorists and rescued three kidnapped civilians in Borno State. The operation took place in Konduga Local Government Area on Saturday, January 4, 2026.

Acting on intelligence about terrorist movements, the military, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged the insurgents at a crossing point near the Sojiri axis. The encounter resulted in the elimination of five terrorists and the recovery of AK-47 rifles, with no casualties reported among the troops.

In addition to neutralizing the threat, the operation successfully freed three hostages who had been abducted by the terrorists.

The military stated that the mission’s success demonstrates the effectiveness, professionalism, and high morale of its forces, as well as the critical role of cooperation with local security partners. Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to continuous offensive actions against terrorist elements while ensuring the protection of civilians across the theater of operations.
