Sola Ogungbe, a 41-year-old manager of SEAP Micro-Finance Bank in Saki, Oyo State, has reportedly ended his own life following the default in repayment of a N1 million loan that he had facilitated for some customers.
Ogungbe tragically took his life at his residence in Iseyin town on Wednesday afternoon, June 14. His wife discovered his lifeless body after receiving a call from one of his colleagues who expressed concern about his absence from work. Rushing home, she was confronted with the devastating news.
According to reports, the manager had been under immense pressure as several customers failed to fulfill their repayment obligations for the loan he had facilitated on their behalf. The burden of the non-performing loans seemingly became overwhelming, leading to this tragic outcome.
The news of Ogungbe’s untimely demise has left the community and his colleagues in shock and mourning. His body has been transported to his hometown in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, where he will be laid to rest.
