Six people were hurt and two men were shot dead when a mass shooting occurred during a block party in Memphis.
Emergency calls were received by the Memphis Police Department from a park on Carnes Avenue close to Mound Street yesterday evening.
When they got there, there were five victims there; two had been declared dead, and the other three had been evacuated right away to Regional One Health.
Soon later, according to officials, the other victims were pulled into the hospital in their own cars.
While one injured person has been released, the other is in severe condition. Police have not made clear what the remaining four’s conditions are.
Moments after the gunman started firing, there is footage of individuals frantically fleeing for their life, with one man crying, “God they are going to kill us.”
CJ Davis, the interim chief of police in Memphis, reported that between 200 and 300 individuals were present at the block party earlier today.
Davis made it clear in a statement that there was no legal authorization in place for the celebration. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
