A man known only as Azeez leaped into the lagoon via the Ikoyi Link Bridge, after being accused of stealing some bags of cement.
According to reports, on Friday morning, the deceased man unexpectedly leaped into the lagoon while being pursued by his accuser.
The incidence was confirmed by Benjamin Hundeyin, the image maker in charge of the Lagos State Police Command.
According to Hundeyin, the incident was reported by a top official from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
“He (the LASEMA official) received a call that there was an accident at Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.”
The police image maker continued, “On getting there, he met a large crowd gathered by the waterside watching the lifeless body of a man, who was later identified as Azeez.”
“He was later confirmed dead by the paramedics of the Pre-Hospital Care, Lagos. It was discovered that one Elijah was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the lagoon.”
According to the Lagos State Police image maker, “He was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]
