The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has refuted rumors that some thugs stole its warehouse in Abuja on Sunday.
Manzo Ezekiel, a spokesman for NEMA, said in a statement on Sunday that the agency is not connected to the pilfered warehouse, but expressed sympathy for the facility’s owners.
Some Abuja locals broke into the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Agriculture warehouse on Sunday and stole food supplies and other goods kept there.
Zakari Aliyu, the public relations officer for the FCT Agric secretariat, texted Channels Television to verify that their agency was the rightful owner of the plundered warehouse.
He, however, did not disclose further details on the looted warehouse.
NEMA said it has taken measures to safeguard its facilities nationwide.
“To forestall any security breach at NEMA facilities, the Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to strengthen security in and around the Agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide,” NEMA said. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
