LG Poll: Ogun Govt declares Friday public holiday

The Government of Ogun State has declared Friday, 15th of November 2024, work-free day for all civil and public servants in the state.

The directive as approved by the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, is to give workers the opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the local government election scheduled for Saturday, 16th of November 2024.

This was disclosed in a statement on the X page of the Ogun State Government on Thursday, November 16.

The statement reads:

“The Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, has announced that the #OGSG_Official has approved Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day for civil and public servants. This directive, approved by His Excellency, Governor #DapoAbiodunCON, is intended to give workers the opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

“The elections, organized by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), will see the election of chairpersons for Ogun State’s twenty local government areas and councillors for its 236 wards. This initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering inclusiveness and participatory democracy.
