The Lagos Waste Management Authority’s Monitoring & Enforcement Team took swift action on Saturday, removing traders who flagrantly violated environmental regulations at Elediye bus stop, Onipanu, along Ikorodu Road.
Despite repeated warnings, the traders continued to dump waste in an unauthorized location, utilizing the drainage system as a means of disposal, causing environmental nuisance, and defacing public facilities.
This was disclosed in a post via the Lagos Waste Reporters Official X handle on Saturday, 14th of September, 2024.
The post reads:
“The Lagos Waste Management Authority Monitoring & Enforcement Team took decisive action today by removing traders who repeatedly violated environmental regulations, dumping waste in an unauthorized location at Elediye bus stop Onipanu, along Ikorodu Road.
“Despite previous warnings, the trader persisted in abusing the area, using the drainage as a source of waste disposal, causing environmental nuisance, and defacing public facilities.
“Mr. Idowu Sanni, the H.O.D-Enforcement of the agency, led the operation and emphasized that the mandate of the agency is to create a serene and habitable environment for Lagosians.
