A Lagos-based content creator and thrift seller, known as Fems Thrift, has accused a man of sexually assaulting her and a friend after luring them to a bogus modelling gig in the Ajao Estate area.
In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, Fems recounted how the suspect contacted her on Instagram on February 1, claiming he had just returned from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion label. He offered her N140,000 for the assignment and asked her to promote the brand on her social media pages. She agreed after he assured her a full production crew, including a makeup artist, would be on set.
Fems said her friend came along for security. “My friend was already with me, so she accompanied me for safety,” she stated.
They arrived at the apartment around 11 a.m. on Friday, February 8, only to find it nearly deserted. The man allegedly explained that the makeup artist had stepped out and instructed her to shower claiming her skin was too oily for filming and gave her a robe. After she complied, he entered the room under the pretext of showing her how to secure the door, then locked it and began threatening them both at knifepoint, forcing them to submit.
According to her account, he seized their phones, compelled them to unlock private folders, and transferred personal images and videos to his device via AirDrop. He then threatened to leak the content if they reported the incident or spoke out publicly. “He threatened me with my internet presence, saying if I spoke up, he would release my private videos now and in the future,” she said.
The victims were released between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. that afternoon.
The video has sparked widespread outrage online, with many calling for the suspect’s immediate arrest and a full police investigation. Photos believed to be of the alleged perpetrator have also circulated on social media.
When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said no formal complaint had been lodged as of February 11. “Efforts are ongoing to reach out to the lady to commence an investigation,” she added.
